Monday Mindset: November 7, 2022
Today Monday Mindset is a little late, as the day got away from me a bit.
I have the MM posts written well ahead of time, and posting is just as simple as formatting on my blog and posting the link…but today’s post comes from the first tangible thing to happen to me this morning.
I woke up, dressed to work out, and walked out of my front door with my headphones. I was going for a walk before waking the kids up for school.
I put on an audiobook, and the first thing I heard was, “…things you’re dreading aren’t really that terrible when you actually face them”.
Now for some context.
I had “planned” to get up and take a walk for months. Every day, I made an excuse. I’m tired; it’s raining, cold, this hurts, that hurts, not enough time, overslept…you name it, I’ve used it as an excuse.
The people that truly know me know that’s not like me. Regarding fitness, I’m all in (although I regard cardio as moving the barbell faster, I digress…). Not doing it had bugged me to no end for months.
But today, the quote that shapes my mindset for the week, and likely many to come, is, “…things you’re dreading aren’t really that terrible when you actually face them”.
So: make a better effort to face the things you dread. Embrace that discomfort for the sake of growth.
